About Me

I am Megan Barnes Zesati, LCSW, an online therapist and clinical supervisor with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field.  I specialize in working with expats, digital nomads and intercultural couples.  I am bilingual in Spanish and English, both feet into an intercultural marriage, and imperfectly raising two bilingual/bicultural kids. I have lived and worked in the USA, Mexico and Costa Rica.  Based out of Costa Rica in 2017-2018, our family also slow-travelled in Nicaragua, Mexico, Cambodia and Thailand.  I know firsthand about the highs and lows of long-term travel and living abroad.  I know about the blessings and challenges of cross-cultural relationships–in work, friendship, romance, and family life.

For many years I have specialized in working with high-functioning professionals with invisible struggles. Many come to me having experienced trauma, difficult relationships, with a secret worry or experiencing grief and loss. Others are simply seeking an opportunity to grow into the highest and best versions of themselves.  A confidential space to speak openly about these struggles is what helps them transform their invisible struggles into strength of character, genuine connection and emotional resilience.

If you find yourself here during one of these rough moments in your life, I’m glad you’re here.  I may be the person to help you through or I might help link you with another support person, place or resource along your way.  My free 30 minute consults are a great opportunity for me to better understand your needs and to make recommendations. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions you may have of me.

About You

My nomad story is unique, just as yours is. We may share a common love of discovering new places, foods, people and culture, but how we live our lives abroad will vary widely and I respect this.

Asking for support is a radical act of courage and strength. If it feels uncomfortable to ask for help, you’re probably already on the path of growth. Keep going!

Whatever brought you to this website, know that in our work together, you will be respected for your courage to grow rather than judged for what you reveal.

Asking for support is a radical act of courage and strength for anyone, especially for a fiercely independent person such as yourself.  If it feels uncomfortable to ask for help, you’re probably already on the path of growth. Keep going!
